Cyril Barton: Halifax Hero

Pilot Officer Cyril Barton was the only RAF Halifax bomber pilot to win a Victoria Cross during the Second World War.

In March 1944 the 22-year-old was one of hundreds of aircrew from Bomber Command who took part in a massive raid on the German city of Nuremberg. It was his 19th mission - and his last.

Simon Newton has talked to his surviving family, and an eyewitness, and tells the story of the night a young pilot earned the nation's highest award for gallantry.
