RIMPAC: The World's Largest Maritime Exercise

In this footage released by the US Department of Defence, we go behind the scenes for Rim of the Pacific Exercise 2014 (RIMPAC) - the world's largest international maritime warfare exercise.
 
Aimed at promoting stability in the region it's also a unique bi-annual opportunity for a large number of nations to work together to ensure safety and security on the world's oceans.
 
The 2014 exercise was the first to involve the Chinese Navy. Beijing sending four ships to take part in the US-led naval drill. 
 
Thailand, meanwhile, found themselves uninvited after a military coup.
