All British personnel safe after Iranian projectile hits UAE airbase housing RAF troops

All British personnel and assets are safe and unharmed after an Iranian projectile hit an airbase housing RAF troops in the UAE overnight.
The Ministry of Defence said there were no UK casualties and no damage to UK assets at Al Minhad Air Base, which hosts a permanent RAF facility.
The base also houses Australian troops, who were unharmed in the overnight strike.

"No ADF personnel were injured in the incident, and all ADF personnel deployed to the Middle East are safe and accounted for," the Australian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
"The strike resulted in minor damage to an accommodation block and medical facility in the Australian section of the base."
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told reporters the projectile hit a road leading to the base and caused a small fire.
The RAF's facility at Al Minhad is known as Donnelly Lines, named after an RAF navigator who died when his aircraft crashed in 1943.
It was opened by the Princess Royal in March 2024.
During Op Herrick, the base was used by 906 Expeditionary Air Wing to provide air transport links between the UK and Afghanistan.
