China Claims Tech Lead With Quantum Satellite Launch

China says it has launched the world's first 'hack-proof' quantum satellite in order to become 'leaders guiding future IT achievements'.

The Chinese hope that 'Micius' (named for an ancient Chinese Philospher) will offer hack-proof communications via a theory called entanglement that Einstein called 'Spooky'.

If the satellite works it will be able to send totally secure messages.

China's official news agency Xinhua said the launch heralds...
“...a transition in China’s role ... from a follower in classic information technology (IT) development to one of the leaders guiding future IT achievements”
