'Weapons Uncovered' Iranian Boats Harass US Navy Warship

U.S officials claim four Iranian patrol boats harassed a US warship in the Persian Gulf

The vessels made a high-speed intercept of the American destroyer USS Nitze - closing to 300 yards.

Warning flares fired at the Iranian boats and attempts to communicate were ignored.

A voice apparently reporting the Nitze's location says at one stage.
"Bridge to bridge COMMS were conducted but no response. Weapons uncovered… appears to be unsafe, unprofessional."

A US official said this created a dangerous, harassing situation that could have led to further escalation.
