For sale: The fighter-frenzy era hideaway with 'Grand Designs' potential

Listed as having no bedrooms, reception rooms or bathrooms, the auction of Frogmore Woods in the hamlet of Fen End, Warwickshire sounds a bit odd – until you learn about its Second World War history and potential.
The unique hideaway is a 1940s blast-proof former power station set in 55 acres of secluded woodland, described by Moveli, a network of brokers and estate agents, as being "originally crafted to energise Honiley Airfield during the RAF's fighter frenzy".
With walls up to 13 inches thick that "whisper tales of wartime grit", Moveli believes Frogmore Woods is the ideal place for the lucky bidder to build a five-bedroom house, as full planning permission has been granted.
Moveli agent Edd Holt, said: "It's rare to see a former RAF support building from the 1940s still standing, let alone with the opportunity to give it a new purpose.
"Sites like this connect directly back to the generation that flew from RAF Honiley and that history deserves recognition."
During the Second World War, RAF Honiley boasted 15 hangars, a cinema plus a workshop and saw a variety of legendary aircraft fly from it such as Spitfires, Hurricanes and later Mosquitos, among others.

This far-from-ordinary piece of land offers the successful bidder the chance to build a home steeped in RAF history surrounded by streams, ponds, wildflower meadows and oak trees that, if they could talk, would have some wartime stories to tell.
Mr Holt said: "Offering complete seclusion yet strong transport links nearby, [Frogmore Woods] has a certain cinematic quality.
"It feels more like a hidden retreat than a conventional building plot."

But understandably, it comes with a hefty price tag.
With a starting price of £2,000,000, anyone interested would probably be investing in their forever home.
Mr Holt said: "You could live almost off grid, surrounded by 55 acres of private woodland, yet still be within easy reach of Birmingham and London.
"That kind of balance is incredibly rare and that's what makes this such a special opportunity."
Alternatively, the 55 acres of land offers the successful bidder the opportunity to create a woodland business venture (subject to planning permission).
