Former Army captain Adam Diver takes the plunge straight into Guinness World Records
A former British Army Captain – with a very apt surname – has swum from the northwest of England to the Isle of Man to raise money for a forces charity.
Adam Diver, who served in the military for 27 years, completed the 46-mile swim in three days and his efforts have helped raise thousands of pounds for the Healthier Heroes charity.
Adam said: "It was three days of a big mental and physical challenge. It was like being in the Army, and I had a great team.
"I would say it's a 40% physical and 60% mental challenge. I think a lot of it comes from my military background."
Mr Diver's swim has landed him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
During his challenge, he encountered dolphins and jellyfish and had to plan his way through the tide.
The Army veteran, who served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq, has so far raised more than £15,000 for the charity.
