Reservists from 215 (Scottish) Multi-Role Medical Regiment (215 (Sc) MMR) have marked the creation of the new unit with a parade at Edinburgh Castle.

It is now Scotland’s only medical Army Reserve unit following a merger under Future Soldier between 205 Field Hospital and 225 (Scottish) Medical Regiment.

Taking the salute was the Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Major General Alistair Bruce of Cronaich, accompanied by the Honorary Colonel of 215 (Sc) MMR, Dame Katherine Grainger.

Sergeant Stevie Seymour told Forces News it was an exciting occasion, adding: "For us to be parading at Edinburgh Castle, it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything as big as this.

"It feels like a grand event for us to be involved with and I'm quite proud to be part of it."

It will have a presence in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Glenrothes, Glasgow and Edinburgh providing specialist medical care to regular and reserve units.

Sergeant Kevin McDonald said: "It’s quite a momentous occasion. I feel privileged to actually be on this parade marching in front of such a large crowd."
