Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Celebrates 60th Anniversary
His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge joined veterans and serving personnel for a special event marking the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Prince William, who is also patron of the flight met veterans at RAF Coningsby.

The BBMF was created after a Battle of Britain veteran, Wing Commander Peter Thompson realised the planes that beat the Germans were at risk of being lost forever.
“It’s important today that people realise what went on in the past”

The flight began with a Hurricane and three photo reconnaissance Spitfires. The BBMF now has 12 historic aircraft, including a Lancaster, a Dakota, six Spitfires, two Hurricanes, and two Chipmunks.

“This commemorates everybody who has ever lost their life in service with the RAF”

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight continues to serve as a tribute to all who have served in the RAF.
