Court Blocks Trump's Transgender Ban

A US Federal Court has blocked Donald Trump's ban on transgender people serving in the American military.

In an executive order announced in July the President said he would no longer allow transgender individuals to serve in the army in any capacity.

He said he would order a return to the policy from before June 2016, under which service members could be discharged for being transgender.

Last month, a group of transgender service personnel asked the court to intercept the proposed ban, arguing it violated their constitutional rights.

District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said those who brought the action were entitled to an injunction halting the order pending the resolution of their case.
