Super-fit Royal Marines have been pushing themselves through the night for a fitness challenge in memory of one of their colleague's sons.

The challenge involved working out on the hour every hour for 24 hours.

Joe fought cancer for three years. After being given the all clear, he was diagnosed again months later.

His dad Al Laoutaris says Joe battled his cancer at every step:

"The doctors were surprised that he had the fight that he did. I'm proud of him, even though he's passed I'm proud of him."

Many of the workouts the Royal Marines are facing are named after servicemen who've been killed in past conflicts.

Al believes the way to get through the gruelling challenge is to take every workout as it comes.

He says:

"The secret is to pace yourself."
