Military personnel swapping battlefield for NHS frontline
A team of 150 military personnel are being trained by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) in an attempt to relieve pressure on the NHS.
This training is part of a Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA) request, amid increasing pressure on the NHS, with about 25% of workers having to isolate due to the pandemic.
Personnel are being trained to assist paramedics with driving ambulances on non-emergency call-outs, as well as manual handling, kit familiarisation and basic life support.
