British Police have announced that two men arrested on suspicion of belonging to a banned far-right group and planning terrorist acts have been released without charge.

The men were among five, including four serving soldiers, that were arrested on Sept 5th as part of a pre-planned, intelligence-led operation.

One of the men, understood to be a member of the Royal Anglian Regiment, was detained at the Dhekelia base in Cyprus earlier this week.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the man had been flown back to the UK as part of an inquiry into the banned neo-Nazi group, National Action.

He was detained on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

Among the soldiers arrested, one is believed to be serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), while at least one other is in the Royal Anglian Regiment.

In a statement West Midland Police said "Two men arrested by officers from West Midlands Police Counter Terrorism Unit on suspicion of terrorism offences have been released from custody without charge - Three other men continue to remain in police custody - Detectives have been granted extra time to question the men."

National Action

National Action has been a banned group since December 2016. It was the first extreme right-wing group to be banned under terrorism laws.

The Home Office described them as “Racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic.”
