Teenage RAF Cadet Killed In Tragic Shooting

A 19-year-old RAF Cadet has been shot dead after leaving a barbeque in London’s Olympic Park on Friday.
Abdul Mayanja was serving as a cadet flight sergeant, and was preparing to move to LA to complete his training, his family revealed.
The incident took place on Friday 25th August at around 10:40, on Well Street in East London.
After shots were fired, armed police and the London Ambulance service attended the scene, and Mayanja was taken to a nearby hospital where he sadly passed away.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Mayanja’s father said that his son was “destined to fly in the RAF”, having been a member of 338 West Ham Squadron air cadets.
His mother added:
“We took so much pride in Abdul. He showed so much potential in everything he tried to do.”
The shooting reportedly took place in front of Abdul’s friends.
Police are currently appealing for witnesses; Detective Chief Inspector Will Reynolds, who is leading the investigation, said:
"I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about the attack on Abdul to contact our incident room."
"We know he left his home address in his car at around 22:00 hours and was then found injured by officers at 22:40 hours, so we are keen to establish who he was with and his movements during that time."
We know from information we have been provided with so far that he may have been in the company of two women, described as black.
If you are those women we want to hear from you. I understand that they maybe scared or reluctant to come forward but it is vital that we hear from them."
Any witnesses, or anyone with any information, are urged to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4005.
