US President Donald Trump has labelled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau 'two-faced' at the NATO summit in Watford.

Mr Trump has also confirmed he will not be doing a press conference at the end of the alliance gathering.

It comes after video footage surfaced, which, it has been suggested, appears to show Mr Trudeau talking about his American counterpart at a reception in Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night.

Talking about Mr Trudeau, the US president said: "He's two-faced.

"Honestly with Trudeau, he's a nice guy.

"I find him to be a very nice guy but you know the truth is that I called him out the fact that he's not paying 2% and I guess he's not very happy about it.

"He's not paying 2% and he should be paying 2%.

"It's Canada - they have money, and they should be paying 2%."

The latest estimates from NATO suggest Canada pays 1.31% of its GDP towards defence - below the alliance's guideline spend of 2%.

According to statistics, the United States spends 3.42% of its GDP on defence, making it the highest contributor in NATO, in terms of a percentage of GDP.
