How Russia is turning to glide bombs as it runs down its stocks of guided missiles

Watch: A close look at what Russia has in its glide bomb arsenal

Russia is making increasing use of glide bombs as it struggles to replenish its supply of precision-guided weapons.

Glide bombs are standard air-launched weapons which have been retro-fitted with a guidance system and pop-out wings.

With the added glide and guidance kit, the bomb can travel for several kilometres.

This allows the launch aircraft, typically a Sukhoi Su-34, to drop them outside the range of Ukrainian air defences.

Russia has also announced it is starting production of a new cluster glide bomb.

In the video above, Simon Newton has been looking at Russia's arsenal of glide munitions.
