The largest passing out parade in the military has taken place at the Army Foundation College, Harrogate.

More than 4,000 spectators watched on as 550 junior soldiers took part in the parade which also featured a flypast from an RAF Typhoon fighter jet

Thursday's parade was overseen by inspecting officer, Lieutenant General Ian Cave, Commander Home Command.

The soldiers undertook either 28 or 52-week courses, depending on the branch of the Army they are joining, and they now head off on a well-earned break, before beginning phase two training in the autumn.
