Toasting Their Forefathers: Vets Snap Up Regiment's Historic Pub

Watch: Veterans have raised £64,000 for a 10-year lease on the pub

Veterans of a historic British Army regiment have bought the lease on the pub where it was founded.

A fighting force was raised by Colonel Luke Lillingston at The King's Head more than 300 years ago on 25 March 1705.

This force eventually became the Staffordshire Regiment.

Now, modern-day veterans are working hard to get it ready for its grand opening this weekend.

They have raised £64,000 for a 10-year lease on the pub.
