Watch: Ajax shows its might as crews complete first on-the-move fire drills in UK

Watch: Ajax completes firing on-the-move exercise in the UK for the first time

British Army personnel have completed the first firing on-the-move exercise with an Ajax vehicle in the UK.

In a post on X, the British Army said the latest Ajax trials were "a resounding success".

Accompanying the post was drone footage showing Ajax driving through the ranges and firing on targets.

The drills followed cold weather trials in Sweden.

Getting Ajax to these latest trials has not been straightforward.

The platform suffered numerous setbacks after the decade-long programme had been previously plagued with problems.

This included some soldiers who were discharged from service because of hearing loss during Ajax trials.

It was originally intended for Ajax to enter service in 2017, but the ÂŁ5.5bn project has been repeatedly delayed.

However, former defence secretary Ben Wallace last year said the programme was "back on track" and had turned a corner.

Ajax crews in November spoke highly of the vehicle, with personnel delighted by its firepower, features, reliability and performance.

The British Army is set to receive 589 of the armoured vehicles by the end of the decade.
