The Welsh Guards Band has marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Brussels from German occupation during the Second World War.

Soldiers from the regiment were the first Allied troops to enter the Belgian capital on 3 September 1944.

The 1st Battalion (infantry) and the 2nd Battalion (armoured) worked together as the first troops to re-enter Brussels.

They advanced 100 miles in one day, in what was described as an "armoured dash unequalled for speed in this or any other war".

In honour of this momentous event, the Welsh Guards Band participated in a series of ceremonies across the city, including leading a procession to the Grand Place.
