HMS Dragon Returns To Duty

After a year out of action and a full facelift, HMS Dragon is returning to duty.

At Portsmouth Naval Base this afternoon, a rededication ceremony took place with friends and family of the Ship's Company.

Standing tall, proud and looking as good as new, today HMS Dragon was blessed and welcomed back onto the water after a 50-week maintenance overhaul.

Friends and family were invited to a rededication service which included a typhoon flypast and the inspection of the Ship's Company by Susie Boyssier, the Ship's Lady Sponsor.

Improvements to HMS Dragon include upgrades to weapons, IT, communications and marine engineering systems.

She's had a fresh coat of paint and her 12-foot-tall decorative red Welsh dragons have also been spruced up.

HMS Dragon has just completed her four week sea trial and will soon be sent off for her third overseas deployment.
