Major Upgrade For Suffolk Sea Cadets
For over 160 years the Sea Cadets have offered young people the opportunity to learn new skills, based around a naval theme.
Now, one of its facilities is about to get a major upgrade, after receiving a Community Covenant Grant of nearly £70,000.
Builders can begin work on a new cadet centre in Beccles, Suffolk, to help link the local communities to the military, after seven years of organisation and fundraising.
Once the new headquarters is up and running capacity will go from the current 34 sea cadets up to 80.
Around the UK 14,000 young people are part of the Sea Cadets.
Supported by 9,000 volunteers, they learn new skills like sailing, boating and rock climbing.
