The next generation of Britain's Royal Marines were visited by a special guest from the United States Marine Corps during their passing out parade.

Brigadier General Farrell J Sullivan was the guest of honour at the King's Squad Pass Out Parade where the newly qualified marines officially graduated.

He inspected each member of the company and presented prizes and awards, including the top student award.

Coincidentally, that award was won by Marine Boberg who is a British-American dual national.

Brig Gen Sullivan joked: "I should've tried harder to get him to join the US Marines!"

Exclusive: Royal Marines give their thoughts on their new KS-1 assault rifle.

The guest of honour also watched as the highly coveted green berets were handed out to members of the parade.

He also spoke with new marines and members of their families who were there to watch them pass out.

Brig Gen Sullivan then talked about the relationship between the UK and US armed forces.

Last month, a US Marine Corps officer was named top student after putting in a superb performance on the All-Arms Commando Course run by the Royal Marines.
