Former President Of Afghanistan On The State Of His Country

The Former President of Afghanistan has told Forces TV he would like Britain to send more training troops to his country.

Hamid Karzai spent 10 years leading Afghanistan, as its first democratically elected President.

He left office in 2014, at almost exactly the same time as the last British combat troops departed.

America is said to be considering increasing its forces in the country - amid a Taliban resurgence, particularly in Helmand.

Mr Karzai says that won’t help.

Talking to Forces TV Correspondent James Hirst he paid tribute to the help given to his country by British forces, and he also also defended the British Government’s policy on resettling interpreters.
