And through goes…the RAF! Silverstone success for the Air Force in six-hour relay
Silverstone, the iconic home of British motor racing, welcomed all three Forces Motorsports teams for the annual Birkett Six-Hour Relay race.
The motor racing teams were competing against each other, with the RAF looking for its seventh win since they started racing there 15 years ago.
In the Birkett Relay race by the 750 Motor Club, 70 teams take to the track to see who can stay the course over six hours to gain as many laps as possible, and extra laps are given to teams with lower-powered cars.
The Birkett relay has been running for 73 years and the RAF were the first military team to take part.
Now it is an established part of the Inter Services racing programme.
There were plenty of incidents during the race, with the safety car frequently called out.

All three military teams stayed the course, with the RAF side ending this year's race by completing 150 laps, which was good enough to beat the Navy on 148 and the Army on 147 laps.
As well as retaining the Inter Services title for a third successive year, the RAF finished the event fifth overall out of the 70 teams who took part.
