Nick McGarry appointed Royal Navy Boxing Head Coach

The Royal Navy Boxing Association has announced Petty Officer Nick McGarry as the new Head Coach of Navy Boxing.
A retired amateur boxer and former Royal Marine, he now serves in the Royal Navy in the Catering Services Branch at Field Catering Troop CLR.
In 2001, he won the national novice championships in the 91kg+ class B under 20 bouts.
In 2009, he was part of the Royal Navy Team that just missed out on the UKAF team title, which was won by the Army.
As an individual, he won the combined services boxing title at 86kg for the Royal Navy before representing UKAF at the quarter-final stages of the national championships.
He continued coaching boxing in his spare time after moving over to the Royal Navy from the Marines, where he helped to prepare the Marines to compete against the US Marine Corps.
Upon his appointment, he told NavyFit: “I feel honoured to be offered the Royal Navy boxing head coach role. I look forward to the new season and working with the many talented boxers.
“I am keen to seek out new boxing talent from around the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and I am extremely optimistic about success for the team within HM forces and at a national level.”
