Military boxers set for heavy bouts at English championship quarter-finals
Military boxers from across the Armed Forces will be in action this weekend in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the English Boxing National Amateur Championships in Barnsley.
Twelve boxers will be representing the UK Armed Forces at the championships with the quarter-finals taking place on Saturday and the semi-finals on Sunday.
Two of those boxers, Army Boxing's Terri-Leigh Stuart and Chelsea Tiller, have already received byes to the semi-finals.
A defending champion in her weight category, Stuart told BFBS Sport that she feels a "bit more pressure" heading into this year's tournament.
She said: "So obviously, because I'm defending champion, I've got that bit more pressure on me this year.
"Luckily, I've been seeded, so I'll go through a step later than everyone else, I'm into semi-finals.
"I'm going to do my best to give it my all as always and then we'll see what happens."
A potential military showdown
There is a possibility of Stuart facing her Navy rival Billie Matthews in this tournament if both boxers make it through to the finals.
Reacting to this prospect, Matthews said: "It doesn't really bother us to be honest, so it's just another fight.
"Everybody is different, you just get in, you have a look, you do what you want and you do what you need to do on the day, and it's the same with everybody."
Royal Marine Kyle Shaw Tullin hopes that all Marines watching him will "feel that pride" of him representing them at the championships.
"I'm definitely a really proud Royal Marine, I wear my green lid with pride," he said.
"I hope all of the Marines watching me feel that pride that I'm representing them and hopefully I'm doing it well."
