Gloves Off, Covers On, As Army Head For T20 Defence

Army cricketers suffered a frustrating afternoon in Aldershot as their warm-up games with the students of Oxford University and the MCCU (Marylebone Cricket Club Universities) were abandoned due to rain.

The Army were looking to use the three-game Twenty 20 tournament as part of their preparations ahead of next months Inter Services T20 competition at Lord's where they hope to defend their forces title.

Army Head Coach Lt Col Phil King says his side are aiming to raise the bar this year.

"Everyone wants to knock you off your pedestal. We fully expect the RAF and the Navy to come at us hard so we have to be better than last year.

"Each year we have to keep improving.

"That's the key in sport, you can't just rest on your laurels, you've got to keep on going and getting better."
