This year will be the 124th edition of the Major Units Army Challenge Cup Final and is the most prestigious football competition for teams affiliated with the Army FA that has been running since 1889.

The competition has been held annually since then, with exceptions including the First and the Second World Wars and the Covid-19 pandemic, and has equal status with the Football League (known today as the English Football League) jointly as the second oldest national competition in the world after the FA Cup.
