Olympians and powerhouse athletes lead 2026 Army Sports Awards Nominations
Army Sport have revealed the first shortlist of nominees for the 2026 Army Sports Awards, setting the stage for a fiercely contested celebration of military sporting excellence.
International elite athletes, world-class competitiors and standout team talent have been shortlisted for Army Sport's top accolades which includes Army Sportsman, Sportswoman and Team of the Year, as well as a Rising Star award.
Winter Olympian Mica Moore and Commonwealth Games boxer Niamh Brooks are among a list of female athletes for the Sportswoman of the Year award, while Sportsman of the Year pits raw power against blistering pace, featuring Strongman competitor Rhys Calland alongside Saint Lucian sprinter Marvric Pamphile.
Competition is fierce across the Team of the Year category, with the Army men's cricket team, the Army tennis team, the men's rugby 7s squad and the ladies' tug-of-war squad all being nominated following stellar performances in 2026.
Looking to the future of military sport, the Rising Star Award shortlist highlights some of the Army's brightest prospects, including basketball star Darreo Glasgow, tennis champion Faye Worrall and strongwoman Lucia Phillips.
Finalists for each of the categories will be decided in the coming weeks, with the ceremony set to take place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on 19 November.
