Out For The Count: 3 PARA Suffers Major Boxing Upset

13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps has won the Army team boxing title, ending 3 PARA's record of never having lost a competition.

Its athletes won four bouts to three, with each of the four two-minute-round contests going the distance.

Privates Humm and Whiteman saw off Craig and Limbu from 3 PARA at bantamweight and lightweight respectively.

Pte Middlemiss won a split decision for the Paras over Pte Sanderson at light welterweight, while Pte Mpofu secured a fine win for 13 AASR RLC at welterweight over Pte Sheridan.

It left his unit needing just one more win, which came in the penultimate fight at light heavyweight.

The team's captain Pte Abel scored a unanimous win over Pte Holmes, while the other two bouts were won by Corporal Turton and Pte Childs of 3 PARA to make it 4-3 overall.

It brings 3 PARA's record of winning all eight titles they had fought for to an end.
