Army women continues Inter Services title run with a thrashing performance over the RAF

The British Army host the RAF at the final clash of Inter Services rugby league at Craven Park

The British Army women have retained the Inter Services title following a brilliant performance against the Royal Air Force at the home of Hull Kingston Rovers.

A standout performance from Lou Kunadua led to the Army prop scoring a hat-trick of tries, which was backed up with a final try from the Army second row Una Vakacegu.

The RAF managed one try in the first half from hooker Rachael Robertson, but the Army came back strong which was too much for the team in light blue to overcome.

The Army arrived at Craven Park as the overwhelming favourites to retain the Inter Services title, and they carried that expectation straight into the opening minutes of the game.

A brilliant offload from Una Vakacegu to Lou Kunadua opened the door for the Army prop to slice through the RAF defence and score the opening try.

Zelah Yuill added the extras to give the Army an early 6-0 lead.

The RAF began to gradually improve as the game progressed, much to the Army's frustration.

Their brilliant work finally paid off when hooker Rachael Robertson pushed her way over despite the Army's best efforts to prevent a light blue try.

The RAF had closed the gap to 6-4 come half time.

The Army needed to get their game back on track with a strong start to the second half, and that came with another try from Kunadua, with Yuill slotting in the conversion to extend their lead to 12-4.

After a brief stop in play due to an injury to RAF player Dina Gray, Kunadua was on the charge again at the restart, dancing her way past the RAF defence to secure her hat-trick in this championship-deciding game.

The Army's upward trajectory continued with Una Vakacegu, who was instrumental in the Army's opening try, getting a try of her own to boost the team in red to 20-4, with the RAF unable to find an answer.

The RAF tried to fight back in the remainder of the second half, but as the full-time whistle sounded, their time ran out and the Army celebrated another Inter Services title win with a 20-4 win over the RAF.
