2 SCOTS soldier overcomes injury in dramatic performance on hit BBC Gladiators show

A Royal Regiment of Scotland soldier overcame injury and setbacks to put on an impressive show in the quarter-finals of the hit BBC show Gladiators.
Major Finlay Anderson, 2 SCOTS, was defeated by a split-second in the show's Eliminator round by his opponent Wesley; a 35-year-old civil servant in the Ministry of Defence and wrestler. He began the challenge by forfeiting an 11-second head start.
The Army Officer said he was extremely proud of his performance, and he was described by the Gladiator Bionic as the "best competitor so far" during The Duel challenge.
The company commander has previously credited his military background for helping him through the multiple back-to-back events.
During the show's sixth episode, Maj Anderson began strong by claiming five points against Bionic in Duel, before scoring six points in The Ring challenge where he faced old rival Apollo.
However, after being tackled by Legend during The Edge challenge, Finley decided to forfeit The Gauntlet round due to concerns of aggravating a rib injury.
He said: "When I fell with Legend, my ribs landed on his head or his knee. It's taken quite an impact.
"Based on the type of event this (The Gauntlet) is, knowing how physical it is, I've decided to take the points loss."
Standing in the way of Maj Anderson's route to the semi-finals was the Eliminator round, where he started 11 seconds behind opponent Wesley due to his earlier forfeit.
However, despite the disadvantage, he kept the event competitive and quickly caught up with Wesley, but was narrowly defeated, finishing The Eliminator a split second behind.
At the end of the show, Maj Anderson hugged his father, who had been watching in the audience.
