Merry Christmas from the BFBS Scheduling Elves!

Movie Premieres on BFBS Extra

The scheduling elves here at BFBS HQ work their stripy little socks off all year to bring you the best televisual goodies and this Christmas has been no exception!

The planning for the Christmas schedules started in August, so while most people were heading off on their summer holidays, our elves were scouring the schedules for the perfect movies and making sure that all your favourite drama series and comedies finished before the festive season.

After compiling a list of the biggest and best movies of the year (and checking it twice!) we spoke to the Hollywood studios, arranging permission to show the films on BFBS. We know that our overseas audience expect to watch everything they’d be able to see at home in the UK, so being able to show the latest movies on BFBS Extra is one of our biggest and most important Christmas presents to you.

This Christmas and New Year, we’re very pleased to be able to bring you over 40 movies on BFBS Extra, including the BFBS TV premieres of Moana, Finding Dory, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Guardians or the Galaxy Vol 2, Beauty and the Beast, The Lego Batman Movie, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, X-Men: Apocalypse and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to name but a few.

Predicting what the UK television channels are going to show needs good detective work and our scheduling elves are experts in their field. The UK television channels famously play their cards close to their chests at this time of year, so putting together the BFBS Extra schedules is like doing a jigsaw puzzle when you don’t know what half of the pieces will be. Once the UK channels go to press at the end of November, our Head-Scheduling-Elf springs into action, hunting down the brightest stars on UK television to spread a little festive joy through the BFBS Extra schedules, from The Great Christmas Bake Off to the Made in Chelsea Christmas Ding Dong, not forgetting the boys from A League of Their Own and a Travel Man (or two).

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the BFBS Scheduling Elves!
