Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, this eye-opening series delves into life in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was once a part of the United States. Ruled by a fundamentalist regime which treats women as just property of the state. In their grasping attempt to repopulate a plummeting world, the remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude by the men who control them.

Our heroine and narrator, Offred exists to survive this horrifying world she lives in and find the daughter that was taken from her. Sharing her past in the before-time (frighteningly, a world just like ours) through flash backs, peppered amongst the horror, we learn of Offred as Jane, and discover who she once was and who she is striving to become again.

Beginning the story on 3rd January, The Handmaid’s Tale will truly make you question feminism, power and hierarchy and the viability of a world like this becoming reality.
