Armour as art: Pieces of body armour back from Ukraine bearing poignant message
Since February 2022, 88,000 units of British-made body armour have been dispatched to Ukraine.
As the conflict nears its third year, some of this life-saving armour has returned to the UK, having been transformed into evocative pieces of art.
The art pieces serve a profound purpose: to visually encapsulate the grim toll of war and remind people of the sacrifices that are being made on the battlefield.
The painted body armour is currently on display at the Canadian High Commission in London, bearing the scars of conflict.
Each item stands as a witness to the brutality of war, having successfully thwarted bullets and shrapnel to protect the lives of those who wore them.
