Could Russia's new Snake Island missiles bite Ukraine back?

Russia is placing short-to-medium range air defence systems on the Black Sea’s Snake Island, in what appears to be a response to effective Ukrainian air power.

The ground-based Pantsir SA-22s can reach targets 49,000 feet high and 12 miles away.

Installation of these systems will help block Ukraine’s maritime trade, but Moscow will also hope Ukrainian strikes, like the one that sunk the cruiser Moskva in April, will be reduced.
