Special forces' e-scooters on Ukraine battlefield prove so successful Kyiv orders more

Watch: Ukraine having so much success with battlefield e-scooters they have ordered more

Ukrainian special operations forces have had such success with their use of e-scooters on the battlefield they have requested more.

The Mosphera e-scooters, billed as the "world's first electric scooter for military purposes", is powerful enough to be considered a "standing motorcycle".

Since delivery of the vehicles in 2023, they've proven so effective on the battlefield that up to 70 more have been requested by Kyiv.

The Latvian maker behind the scooters said they have received positive feedback from frontline soldiers, with the scooters reaching a maximum speed in excess of roughly 60mph.

They are said to be completely silent and are also compact, allowing for them to be quickly concealed in the bushes, if necessary.

Watch: RPD: The Soviet-era LMG that can clear trenches in Ukraine.

They are capable of navigating rugged terrain, as they come fitted with 17in off-road tyres and a powerful 10,000 watt electric motor.

This makes the Mosphera ideal for discreet reconnaissance, scouting, and logistical missions.

Russia is also realising the worth of an e-scooter, although their machines look a little more basic in comparison.

One Russian commander is reported to have requested several for a grenade launcher platoon to move between positions silently, as well as to be used for placing anti-tank mines.
