The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence claims that more Russian troops have been killed or wounded in October than in any month since the conflict began in 2022.

The Defense of Ukraine X account posted that 41,980 Russian personnel were lost last month, and stated it was the highest monthly casualty rate Moscow had experienced.

"We make the occupiers pay the highest price for every meter of our land," said the Ukrainian MOD.

"Forty-one thousand nine hundred and eighty Russian personnel losses in October 2024," wrote the Ukrainian MOD.

"It's the highest monthly number since the beginning of the invasion."

According to the numbers provided by Ukraine, the second-highest month for Russian losses was in May 2024, with 38,940 Russian troops being killed, wounded or captured.

Furthermore, the account claims 923 Russian armoured fighting vehicles were destroyed in October 2024, and that the overall Russian losses stand at 696,410.
