Ukrainian marine and war poet opens London exhibition capturing Op Interflex in pictures

A new exhibition has opened in London documenting Operation Interflex and the Ukrainians who have passed through the UK-led military training programme.

The photographic display was unveiled at the National Army Museum to mark Ukrainian Independence Day and captures some of the people involved in the mission.

Op Interflex began after Russia's full-scale invasion, initially focusing on basic infantry skills for Ukrainian recruits.

The programme later expanded to leadership training, with 11,000 military instructors passing through the course before returning to Ukraine to train others.

It now includes more specialist tri-service training, including combat engineering, battlefield medicine and pilot training.

Among those attending the exhibition was Yaryna Chornohuz, one of Ukraine's best-known war poets.

She joined the military as a volunteer combat medic in 2019 and later became a marine and drone pilot.

Yaryna, who has published three books of poetry, said she writes for her comrades and for her daughter, whose future she is defending.
