Zelensky visits Ukrainian soldiers in frontline positions only short distance from the enemy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has visited troops in frontline positions in the Zaporizhzhia region, only a few kilometres from the Russian army.
Mr Zelensky met soldiers deployed near the village of Robotyne where he presented an award for bravery to a reconnaissance platoon commander and discussed the ongoing situation in the region with military leaders and police officials.
The soldiers are serving with 65th Separate Mechanised Brigade.
"It is a great honour to be here today. To support you and present awards. You are facing a difficult and crucial mission – to repel the enemy and win this war. I wish you this victory. I wish you to do everything to speed up this victory," said President Zelenskyy.
"I wish you to be supported by your family, friends and all citizens of Ukraine.
"All sane people in the world understand that you have the most difficult job, and all Ukrainians are proud of you."
During the visit, Mr Zelensky was briefed on the operational situation by the commander of the Zaporizhzhia operational group, Volodymyr Horbatiuk.
The President also awarded the Cross of Military Merit to Senior Lieutenant Andriy Olshanskyi in recognition for the recce officer's service to the nation.
Soldiers were also presented with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky by the President.
The Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky is a Ukrainian military award named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky, the 17th century leader of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
The Zaporizhzhia region has seen heavy bombing and fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces since the beginning of the country's counter-offensive that was launched in June 2023.
The Ukrainian armed forces focused on key areas as part of their offensive, with Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Oblast two areas of particular interest.
The region is also home to Europe's largest power station, which was formerly controlled by Russia in 2023.
