Ukrainian troops are in the midst of a fierce battle against their Russian invaders but there is always time to take a break and eat pizza for lunch it seems.

One Ukrainian soldier has been filmed enjoying a slice or two as he eats out of a pizza delivery box while apparently sitting on a destroyed Russian tank.

In the video posted on Twitter, the soldier says: "There is nothing better than to hang out in this mud in the midst of an offensive eating this really delicious pizza."

It is unclear who delivered the pizza but that did not stop some Twitter users from speculating, with one saying: "Ukraine's Uber Eats is insane," and another: "Hats off to the pizza delivery guy dropping off in a war zone."

The soldier mentions "hanging out in the mud", perhaps as a nod to the Russian media reports that have claimed Ukrainian forces are struggling due to severe muddy conditions.

British intelligence has said that Russian online outlets are likely exaggerating the impact of mud on Ukrainian forces in order to raise Russian morale.

In the latest defence update posted on Twitter, the MOD said the move was likely aimed at "undermining Ukraine's supporters, in light of an anticipated Ukrainian counter-offensive".

"With soft ground conditions across most of Ukraine, severe mud is highly likely slowing operations for both sides in the conflict," the MOD said.

Conditions are likely to improve in the coming weeks according to the MOD, but mines are likely to continue to be a major obstacle for both sides.

Considering the inherent risks, including the persistent threat of mines, the apparent delivery of pizza in a war zone remains a perplexing feat.
