USS Dwight D Eisenhower skilfully carries out a replenishment at sea

The USS Dwight D Eisenhower has been filmed carrying out a replenishment at sea (RAS) in the Red Sea.
The nuclear-powered Nimitz-class vessel, described by the US Navy as its "finest five-star aircraft carrier", was seen sailing parallel to the combat support ship USNS Supply while the replenishment was carried out.
On the far side is the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Philippine Sea.
The footage was released on social media by Captain Chris "Chowdah" Hill, the captain of the aircraft carrier.
To perform an RAS on the move, both ships have to maintain a steady bearing and speed.
In the video, the ships are seen sailing in perfect sync with one another as the operation takes place.
While carrying out a mobile RAS is a complicated task, it is possible to perform it with more than one ship if done so carefully and correctly.
The USS Dwight D Eisenhower is the flagship for Carrier Strike Group (CCSG) 2.
