HMS Richmond has received a visit from a small bird while deployed in the Baltic Sea.

The Royal Navy vessel shared an image of its avian visitor, with the words: "An impromptu weapon inspection!"

The Type 23 frigate has been working with other Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) nations in the region.

The JEF is a northern European security coalition of mainly Nordic and Baltic countries, including the UK, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway.

HMS Richmond has been joined by a P-8A Poseidon aircraft while in the Baltic Sea.
