Sri Lankan Navy Comes To The Rescue Of Drowning Elephants

For the second time this month, the Sri Lankan navy have come to the rescue of some elephants in trouble off the coast of the country.

The two elephants had been swept out to sea and were struggling to remain above the water’s surface when the group of naval personnel came to their aid.

Similarly to the previous incident, the ‘jumbos’ as the navy has nicknamed them, were first noticed by an Inshore Patrol Craft on a routine patrol, and a combined rescue mission was quickly launched.

The Navy and Wildlife officials, including a team of Navy Divers, worked together to save the two wild elephants.

Luckily, the animals were safely guided towards the shore and suffered no harm, after which they were promptly released into the nearby jungle.
