Army cruiserweight wins national boxing championship

An Army boxer has won a national title at the 2021 England Boxing National Amateur Championships.

Carnell Brown beat Joel Aminu in the cruiserweight final at the University of East London.

Army teammate Lucy Kisielewska lost her final to Jodie Wilkinson while the Army's Josh Millington and the RAF's Rachel Hughes were beaten in the development tournament finals.

Brown's title came from a split decision result where judges awarded the Army star the bout by a score of 3:2.

The military man's challenge nearly came undone when a clash of heads resulted in treatment in the second round.

However, Brown reacted with explosive power to edge out the final.
