Royal Navy hails the future of boxing programme at their annual service championships
The future of Royal Navy Boxing was on show at their annual service championships at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall.
With nine bouts on the card, the Navy's showpiece boxing event was an opportunity for new names to emerge in the Navy ranks as the senior service searches for their new stars of the future.
HMS Collingwood's Sean Stables got the night off to a flying start with a unanimous points decision win over Enrique Khara in a 68kg bout.
There was also a unanimous points decision win for civilian boxer Kieran Lougheed in the 68kg category over HMS Nelson's Kane Stephenson.
Home hero AB Owen Crawford of HMS Raleigh lit up the ring with a 3-2 split decision victory in the 78kg category over HMS Queen Elizabeth's Ethan O'Connell.
Royal Marine Chris Errington from 42 Commando dodged the jabs of Jono Williams to win by a unanimous decision in the 80kg category, whilst HMS Raleigh's Reece Tomlinson's retirement led to victory for HMS Sultan's Chris Gomez in the 80kg bout.
HMS Queen Elizabeth's Ben Wood beat Royal Marine Tom Burtwell from 47 Commando in the 75kg bout, before the final bout of the night led to a referee stopped contest in the 86kg bout as HMS Astute's Fraser Scott overcame the challenge from civilian boxer Louis Broadbent.
