Competitors shine at British Army Brazilian jiu-jitsu championships
The best Brazilian jiu-jitsu grapplers in the British Army have taken to the mats at Fox Lines Gym in Aldershot for the 2024 service championships.
Competitors from a wide range of experience levels with involved – from first-timers to veteran martial arts athletes who compete on the world stage, like Bombardier Josh Gibbs.
He picked up gold on the day while Captain Rob Soutar, who has been away from the forces sport for three years, won bronze on his return.

In Brazilian jiu-jitsu, there is no punching or kicking but, in order to win, competitors must immobilise their opponent.
It is one of the most popular grapple sports within the Armed Forces and saw more than 100 competitors involved in the Army championships.
