The countdown is on: Army Sports Awards finalists announced for 2026

The finalist for the big gongs at the 2026 Army Sports Awards have been announced.

Europe's Strongest Man, Rhys Calland, will battle Britain's youngest Olympic bobsledder Nick Gleeson and Drone Sports star Luke Crossley for the Sportsman of the Year award

Sportswoman of the Year will be one of boxing's Niamh Brookes, Winter Sports competitor Mica Moore and Fencing's Abagael Black.

The Rising Star sees international basketball player Darreo Glasgow in contention alongside Martial Arts star Katherine Hambleton and Strongwoman Lucia Phillips.

The men's 7s rugby union team, offshore sailing team and 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment football squad have eyes on Team of the Year while rugby's Sarah Mitchelson, James Peters from Squash and Table Tennis's Andy Benjamin are all in contention for Coach of the Year.

The official of the year sees Cycling's Wilson Blunt, Martial Arts' Trevor Tuhey and Modern Pentathlon's Richard Kettle make the final cut.

The awards take place on 19 November at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
