Anna Birtwhistle's stunning strike seals British Army's Southern Counties win over Jersey
British Army women's football are back to winning ways in the Southern Counties Cup after a 1-0 triumph over Jersey in Aldershot.
The Army captain, Anna Birtwhistle, stole the show with a brilliant long-range volley which makes it two wins from three games in the competition so far.
It means they are still within sight of winning the competition, but will have to beat Middlesex by seven goals on 12 February to take top spot in the group table.

Birtwhistle's goal was one to remember as a corner was headed only as far as the Army midfielder who crashed her volley into the top corner from 20 yards out.
She could have had more to celebrate as she proved to be the Army's leading threat.
In the second half, she rattled the crossbar with a powerful strike and then forced a good save from Jersey goalkeeper Sara Luce.
However, the slender one-goal advantage led to a scare in the final few minutes as Jersey captain Holly Muirhead looked to equalise with a powerful shot only to see her effort come back off the crossbar.
The Army will play Middlesex in the tournament decider on 12 February before all attention turns to the Inter Services games against the Navy and RAF in March and April.
